Quality Dental Care Fit for a Lion

What do you do if you’re a lion experiencing tooth pain so bad that it makes it difficult to eat? You’d do the same thing any of us would do: you find a good root canal dentist. In South Africa, a rare white lion recently underwent a successful six-hour dental operation to remove the broken roots of its two rotting canine teeth. The nine year old lion’s deteriorating dental state and resulting pain caused it to become isolated, aggressive and agitated by its inability to bite down. “A lion without its bite is not really a lion,” said Wildlife Sanctuary officials, “It’s important for a  lion to have a full set of teeth that are usable”.

After being placed under anesthetic and taken to a makeshift surgery site, doctors got to work removing rotten tooth fragments then tending to and sewing up the hole left behind. Sanctuary officials commented that the lion would soon be without pain and much happier. The lion, named Aslan, has since returned to his pride and is living comfortably. Human beings, much like lions, require attention if dental issues occur. As a leading endodontist in Bakersfield the team at Kern Dental Specialties have your back. If you’re in need of a root canal, dental implants in Bakersfield, or other dental treatments, our office provides roaring good treatment!

Toothache? It Could be the Weather!

Though many fondly view Southern California as winterless utopia, for those of us who live here we know that the weather can actually get quite brisk during the winter months. It’s true that we avoid the blizzards of the East, but going outside without a jacket can cost you on a December evening. That’s why any of us welcome the traditional Spring months as a return to ideal weather. Believe or not, in addition to being the cause of neglected jackets everywhere, warm weather can also cause dental discomfort!

Here at Kern Dental Specialists, as a well-known dentist in Bakersfield, we’re privy to all the new dental tidbits, and this one caught our eye. Different temperatures can cause tooth sensitivity, as anyone who’s experienced pain inhaling an icy breath of winter air can attest to. Conversely, dry hot air can trigger allergies which cause our sinuses to swell due to congestion. This may put pressure on the roots of the teeth can cause pain. Of course, a trip to a doctor is the best course of action to address sinus issues, but if you’re looking for a endodontist in Bakersfield our team has your back. We’ll tackle the issue at the source, and our gentle treatment has made us a popular choice as a top for a root canal dentist. Our team is standing by to provide you the care you need in any weather!

A Newer New Year’s Resolution: Round Tooth

How’s your New Year’s Resolution working out for you? Are you still going strong? If you are, then good for you! If not, don’t sweat it. By in large, most people who make a resolution break them within the first few weeks. A resolution is a difficult thing to keep. But here at Kern Dental Specialists, we think you deserve a second chance. Here’s an idea for a new New Year’s Resolution that’s not only easy to keep, but great for your overall health. Resolve to take care of your teeth!

As a leading dentist in Bakersfield, we’ve seen firsthand how easy it is for people to neglect their oral health. It often doesn’t feel pressing, and many avoid a trip to the dentist to save money. Still, your teeth are an essential part of your digestive system. If you neglect them, you’ll likely end up needing a root canal dentist to undo damage that has been done, or to reverse infection. It’s better just to practice good dental care, and not skip that regular checkup which can find and address issues before they develop. If you are experiencing issues, such as a traumatized tooth, an expert like the team here at Kern Dental Specialists have you back. 2015 has only just begun. It’s not too late to make it the year of good oral health!
